Ideally an epiphyte tree should be evergreen (Light and humidity levels are far more stable and of course there is far more frost protection). However by using a deciduous tree I can fully apreciate all the plants growing in the tree once the leaves have fallen. Also I effectively have two trees for the price of one as when in full leaf the tree looks perfectly ordinary unless you happen to be standing underneath it and look up.
