Hello,
not bad of a photo - maybe a helpful hint is try to photograph the subject looking up... abit like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/spidermanbryce2006/3490112652/ can be very hard at times dew to the way the spider is in its web.

but this is a female Garden orb web spider (Eriophora pustulosa) they can come in many colours and patterns. Not a very large spider normally only about 12mm body, males are probably half the size (like most species of orbweb spiders the male is much smaller)
